On a cloudy Saturday afternoon in Enfield, Reed won the toss and put the opponents Holtwhites into bat. The Reed opening bowlers, Josh Heslam and OT, began with good spell, troubling the opponents’ openers, and both struck with an early wicket. A challenging sloping wicket made further wickets difficult to come by and it was not until after drinks that wickets began to fall. Spinners Stan Cooper and Matt Yates the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets each.No doubt Holtwhites innings ended 164 all out. A good all-round bowling and fielding performance, leaving Reed in a strong position for the batting.

Dave Saunders (11) and captain Lloyd (16) opened for Reed, batting well against some tight bowling from Holtwhites. Runs ticketed over at a steady rate before number 3 Chris Cooper started to attack, hitting a series of quick boundaries in an exciting innings, before falling for 35. The fall of Josh Heslam (7) brought Matt Yates to the crease, who along with Stan Cooper (19) steadied the innings, building a good partnership together. With 70 runs required from the final 10 overs, the impressive Matt Yates took the attack to Holtwhites, scoring multiple boundaries to put Reed in a good position to win the game.

Matt hit the winning runs in the final over to score an unbeaten 54, his maiden fifty. Well done Matt and ell done team - nervous finish, but great to get all the points and enjoy a well deserved drink at the bar.
